Soap

Life is fragile.  Life is also supported, contained as well as sustained by ordinary objects; yet the presence of these objects are often overlooked or unnoticed by human busy life.  I want to highlight the necessity and power of the common objects by carving them from bars of soap.  Its soft quality, odor, and eco-friendly ingredient have attracted me to this material.  By carving them in small sizes, I re-contextualize their normal function so to provide beholders a viewpoint of observance and reflection.  The fragility of these hand-made miniature sculptures also represents life itself in its own form; nothing lasts or is stable forever.
